We just got back from Watchmen.
It fucking rocked.
I will a better post about it later. This entry is pure selfish want.

Dear Gods of movie things and stuff-
Please continue to send beardy burly manly men to Melissa.
More of these and less of the not-like that type that were so popular for so long.
For example.

ok. Not quite beardy. But scruffy? Manly? Yes.(yes. I know. Not A Nice Guy. My LJ. too bad for you)
or look. Here he is more so.

Still hot.
For example also:
(yes. Please.)

ha. The aboves might just be a post for me and Athena. ;)

And then we have:

and of course.

My favorite red head.

Anyhow. Gods of stuff and things. Thanks bunches. keep up the good work.

I should totally add more hot guys to my lj. I don't know why I don't do that more often. That cheered me up.

melissae: (comedian)
I refuse to use the catch line "who watches the Watchmen" in this post. Loads of people doing it.
missing the point, I think.
(steps off nerd high horse)

I loved it. I loved being able to see scenes that I could see in my brain from the gn. I cannot wait for it to come out on dvd, because I want to be able to hit pause and look- and close it is. And I know its pretty damn spot on. From framing, to motions and actions to posters on the city buildings. I had heard that it was done that way- but just because they say they are making it frame by frame doesn't mean that they read the same book you did. But you know what? It really was.

I know that some folks have said that there was some miscasting, but in all honesty, though I agree a little bit with that- perhaps just a bit for Silk Spectre.(II obviously.) But I tried to see her as, you know, human. No one is perfect. We're all just trying.
So. I thought it was fine. Plus. Fuck. I wish I looked like that.

The Comedian was perfect. Period.
I was worried about Nite Owl. Because he's..I don't know. Favorite is the wrong word. You know? Anyhow. Same thing. I know that folks have been talking about him being miscast, but I really didn't think so.

I want to see it again. And I know that I don't have the time to...though I think that maybe one of the nights that my parents or aunt has gma duty, I will ditch writing. Even skip over my rule of no movies alone in the evening (too depressing- everyone else has dates) and head out.

I dont think that I am going to write in too much detail about the movie.

You should see it.
I mean, if you've read it. I still don't know what to think for people who haven't read it.
People keep asking me if they should see it. And I have to start out saying that its not Iron Man or Dark Knight, and then I get sort of rolling on trying to explain what it is, that its not a superhero movie, and I have heard that its extraordinarily violent. (yes. It was. I loved it) and then I get kind of lost telling them anything. And have to say that I don't know if they'll like it or not.
If you havent read the gn..I dont think that there is the same connection/ expectation/ meaning to it. I read it like, I dunno. More than ten years ago? And then off and on. And then again last year. I just. I can't help the people who haven't read it.

Who knows.
I loved it. I don't think that Snyder screwed it up. Even the changes to the ending- which I won't go into for spoilery sake..were ok. (except one tiny bit, but..oh well)

small tidbit )
So overall. Thank you Zach (Zack?) Zack Snyder for not fucking up Watchmen. Seriously, honestly. Thank you for not turning into an awful, craptastic hollywood version.

I want to see it again.
